Flying High: ER2 and Newcolor Revamp O’Hare International Terminal

dufryPrior to the recent remodel of O’Hare Airport’s International Terminal 5, the term “no-frills travel” was being kind.

“The international terminal was just terrible; you couldn’t even get a cup of coffee,” according to Chris Cassettari, director of sales (AKA one man band) at Newcolor, who worked in conjunction with ER2 Image Group over the past year to give the terminal a refined style. “There are high-end restaurants and retailers now.”

Thanks to Newcolor and ER2, there’s now a dazzling display of color, metallic lettering and shimmering brand logos to enhance the array of eateries and high-end shops in the terminal.

Cassettari said he has a long history of work with ER2, the latest of which includes this grand opening. One of the main features of the terminal are the large stars made out of gatorboard for Dufry Duty Free Shop. There are also displays with raised metallic lettering, murals with backlighting and vivid colors. It took the formerly plain-looking Terminal 5 and gave it a large dose of the eye candy ER2 is known for.

“It’s really the whole package,” Cassettari said “It is a big deal. Pretty much anyone at the terminal, we had a sign or a backlight or some kind of promotional piece for them.”

When it comes to big projects like this, Cassettari said he feels extremely comfortable working with Gary Schellerer and the team at ER2. Our team has expertise from creating a design to manufacturing it to moving the project out the door, he said, something that came in handy for this extremely hectic project at Terminal 5.

“The fit and finish is always right,” Cassettari said. “Everything seems to go smoothly. They understand my account very well and they’ve become experts at handling it. Without Gary’s team, it wouldn’t happen.”
