Nothing to “Wine” About at This Installation

The Wine Cellar Group
is a boutique wine retailer offering exceptional wine and wine accessories. Since 1990, their goal has been to provide their customers with premium quality, handcrafted wines at reasonable prices. They currently have twelve stores (and growing) from the West Coast (Seattle) to the East (New York). When it came time to open their third Chicago area store (on Butterfield in Oakbrook), they wanted a company that could match their “class in a glass” professionalism.

Enter ER2

Lauren Saracco, Marketing Directorfor The Wine Cellar, was told about ER2 by a colleague. “She told me that they are innovative and produce high quality work,” said Lauren. “All of which I found to be true!”

Lauren met with Account Executive Matt Blackmar at the site to discuss her vision.“Meeting together and carefully going over the project gave us a clear direction on what they wanted and expected,” said Matt.

Signage with Style

Instead of simply marking areas with lettered signs denoting the type of wine, 12 canvas wrapped product header boards would help customers navigate around the store (Cabernet Sauvignon, Italy, etc.). They would also create just the right atmosphere with scenes of global appellations, vineyards and wine making in process.

To complete the ambiance, The Wine Cellar Outlet logo would be reproduced in metallic dimensional letters to stand out and grab customers’ attention.

Don’t Count Your Chickens Before they Hatch

That was the plan. Unfortunately, the header boards originally sent to the store were damaged in transit. But any new header boards would have to work with the existing fixtures. To add to the challenge, The Wine Cellar had less than a month before the store opening.

“The ER2 team came to our rescue,” Lauren said. “They measured the damaged header boards and quickly turned around 3 different options.” Lauren selected an option, provided the photos and layouts, and we went to work.

Harvesting Headers

For the header boards, we decided to wrap the canvas around custom-made 3” wood frames to create a feeling of depth. Using brackets provided by the customer, we were able to assemble all the components in our shop to allow for an easy installation on the shop’s product racks. Special Projects ManagerScott Studt created the frames and wrapped the canvas.

A Vintage Logo

Lauren wanted the store’s logo to really “pop,” so we started with 1” PVC and added a Copper Metallic face. When mounted on the wall, the 3-dimentional letters really stood out (quite literally).

The Perfect Blend

“Lauren and her team were very easy to work with and open to ideas,” said Matt. “A great vision, excellent communication and flawless execution gave us an outcome we could all be

proud of.”

Pete Bussert and Arek Marciniak handled the on-site installation. The entire project, including production of the materials and installation, was completed in about 7 days.

“The ER2 team was great,” Lauren said. “They were able to design something original even though we had time limitations. The sales and creative team worked seamlessly together to ensure we were happy with the final outcome.”
