Dan Gershenson

Chief Marketing Officer

I knew what I wanted to do for a living in 2nd grade.
It was a Career Day when an advertising agency executive came to our school and showed us the ideas he came up with for the McDonald’s account. I couldn’t believe that you could have a job where you got be creative like that all day. And, for the most part, that’s what I have today.

I lived in Florida and moved back to Chicago during the city’s biggest blizzard in decades.
The weather there is great but the people, food, music, culture and family I have in this town are what drew me to return and appreciate Chicago more than ever. Even back in 2011 when people abandoned their cars on Lake Shore Drive.

Sharpen your sword or die.
I’ve pushed myself out of my comfort zone to not only understand content but also strategy, PR, sales and now AI. You don’t age because of age. You age because you stop learning.

What do I love about working with ER2?
You have people at ER2 who have achieved incredible things here over the course of a very long time. They could have said, “We know all there is to know.” And yet, they’re always striving to be better, more knowledgeable, more evolved and open to changes where they make sense. People don’t always have to agree with you. But these days, people who make the time to intently listen to you and know they don’t have all the answers are so rare. That’s invaluable to be around and I feel so lucky to be a part of that dynamic at ER2.

I live 1 mile from Wrigley Field.
Bryant to Rizzo. 2016. Burned into my brain forever. So yeah. I’m kind of a Cubs fan.

My greatest accomplishment outside of raising a daughter?
Running the Chicago Marathon. I pushed my body across 18 miles and my mind carried me across the remaining 8. Along with a good friend who ran with me the whole way.
