A Review of 2017 Grand Format Print Trends

At ER2, we’re big on big format. That’s why we’re all over the latest news in the industry. Here’s our take on some of the trends we’re seeing in grand format printing in 2017.

Relationship Focus

This isn’t actually a trend to us – it’s just the way we do things and always has been. If you aren’t focused on your customers, what are you doing in the business, anyway? To us, relationship focus simply means having the right people, resources and tools in place at all times. For example, our advanced management software identifies project costs digitally in real time, allowing our account executive to quote most orders during the first call. HUGE timesaver for both parties. During production, that same software tracks the order with a level of control far better than any of our competition. That’s the kind of focus that’s built right into our DNA.

Use of Greenery

Whether you are featuring Pantone’ s current “zesty” hue of the year or any other shade, our equipment offers the latest advancements to ensure an exact color reproduction of your brand. Your identity is distinct, and we know that “close” just won’t cut it. Staples, Verizon, FedEx, Samsung, and Ferrari are just a few of the companies that have entrusted their legendary marks to us for precise color reproduction.

Digital Printing

The range of large format applications that can now be produced digitally increased rapidly over the past few years. We are printing on things today that we would have never dreamed possible before. Our newest addition even allows us to print Braille in 3D! Improvements have also been seen in speed, resolution quality and cost. From billboards to door plaques, digital printing has become the relevant solution.

Inkjet printing

We jumped on this bandwagon early, giving our customers incredible color and resolution with our VUTEk Pro superwide inkjet printer. Flatbed printing is way beyond its infancy with this new technology. Using our industry’s latest generation print heads, this monster offers resolution like you have never seen before. It allows us to print three layers of images in one pass, one on top of the other. That means a whole new level of creativity for us to play with. Using white ink printing allows backlit applications that really pop when illuminated from behind. Can you tell we love this thing? We could go on and on, but check out this video for more details.

Textile Printing

We offer the largest sizes and some of the fastest speeds in the marketplace. Creating digital displays on fabric is a huge trend with today’s marketing professional. Fabric is light weight and easily folded to reduce shipping expense and make storage easier. Plus, you are doing the right thing for the planet by using fabrics to reduce our carbon foot print. Using our DGen Teleios G5 Textile Grand Format Printer, there is no such thing as too big. We offer direct dye sublimation printing up to ten feet wide in one panel. Dye sublimation is the only way to produce great looking fabric. Colors remain rich, bright and beautiful while giving you a fabric product that is not only durable but retains its fabric feel.

Eyeing Tomorrow

While our research shows these trends are just gaining traction, they’re just another day on the job for ER2.
