Imagine the audacious task of designing a pixel wall using individual employee headshot images to form one colossal image, which would be completely transformed after just a month. This groundbreaking feat had never been attempted before. Chicago Trading Company presented this unique challenge to ER2 Image Group’s Applied Surfaces division and we eagerly embraced it.

Driven by a solid commitment to sustainability, Applied Surfaces embarked on intensive research and development to find the perfect solution. After exploring various materials, including wood and PVC, we discovered a revolutionary option: a material crafted from recycled soda bottles that could be printed on.

Today, Chicago Trading Company boasts a breathtaking design in its lobby—a 22- x 24-foot wall adorned with 7,000 individual, pixel-shaped inserts. This remarkable installation captivates the eye and serves as a testament to our team’s ability to overcome complex challenges and push the boundaries of design and innovation.
