“We want a display with a ‘wow’ factor.”
The Renaissance Hotel in downtown Chicago had an image they wanted to use for a new project. Beyond that, they knew they wanted an engaging, memorable display. So they came to ER2 Image Group.
With one week to prototype and another week for final production, time was of the essence. We started by writing our grocery list. Metallic vinyl. Sheets of acrylic. RGB lighting modules. And of course, a little imagination.
Our idea was to add a dimensional element and combine it with a lighting feature. And to accent the display at night, we would add an ultra-metallic vinyl and apply it to the wall to give it a starry night sparkle.
The plan was in place. Time to build.
A spotlight on our lighting capabilities
Something we love about our work is how each project comes with unique puzzles to solve. For the Renaissance display, we needed to find a light source that would give us the color variation we desired.
Our vision also required the acrylic buildings stand far enough away from the wall to give dimension and depth. In short, we had the opportunity to showcase our print technologies with a unique, creative lighting application that would bring the whole thing to life.
The Renaissance project required the ER2 team—from design through installation—to brainstorm together to take the display from concept to reality.
Once the piece was up and running, it was so well received that the initial plan of it being a temporary display quickly went out the window. We’re thrilled to say the work will live on as a permanent display at the Renaissance Chicago.
