Inside ER2: Scott Studt AKA The Signentist is Always Ready to Dive In

Scott Studt, our Special Project Manager, joined ER2 Image Group in 2007 as an Installer/Wrapper. He soon moved up in responsibilities to Router Operator and then jumped from there to his current position. Such progression is nothing new for Scott, as he went from being a grocery bagger at 16 to becoming a union carpenter at 18, a junior architect at age 29 and a sign shop owner at 33. Along the way, he picked up an associate degree in AutoCAD computer-aided drafting/design technology. From his skill sets, you can see why he has been a valuable asset since the day he started.

Working Through the Day

When asked about his current duties, he said, “This space is not big enough to write out all the duties I have on a daily basis.” A majority of the projects Scott does are cut on a CNC router. “An example would be the basketball connect four game we did for a Chicago Bulls event. It’s just like the kids’ game, but with basketballs. I also create lighted and halo lit logos and signs and stage letters 4’ tall 12” deep hollow PVC, just to name a few.” He describes his approach as definitely “hands on.”

Scott modestly proclaims he is proud of being a “small’ part of where ER2 is now and where they will be going in the future. The most exciting part of the job is finishing up one project and finding out about the next challenge waiting in the wings. He says, “I love being presented with a job and having no idea of how I’m going to do it…and then ‘poof’ – there it is!”

Scott’s super power is the ability to think in 3D. This enables him to build 3D objects with a 2D router.

♫ Scott Likes to Be, Under the Sea ♫

When not at work, Scott likes Fox News, Nascar, music (80’s hair bands) and sports (Go Cubs, Go Bears). He was even commissioner of our Fantasy Football league this past fall. On the active side, he enjoys paintball and jumping out of perfectly good airplanes for fun. His favorite travel spot is anywhere he can dive under the surface of an ocean day or night. Examples include: Acapulco(x2), Ambergris Caye, Aruba, Australia, Barbados, Belize, Cancun, Cozumel(x6), Curagao, Dominican Republic(x2), Guatemala, Hawaii, Isla Mujeres(x2), Jamaica, Martinique, Maui, O’ahu, Puerto Rico, Puerto Vallarta(x2), St.Thomas and Tulum. Just to name a few. He is definitely a wet world traveler.

No One At ER2 Knows….

That Scott loves to cook! It might not be something people would immediately guess about him, but he’s a real iron chef in the kitchen (or at least he likes to think he is). There’s also the fact that he’s done three solo skydives and over 100 scuba dives. Yes, that’s the correct amount of zeros.

And while Scott has never come close to being bitten by a shark, he has been bit by dolphins on more than one occasion. Two of them bit him at once, even! What dolphins have against him is a mystery, maybe if they tried some of his cooking.
