Using big words has always been the key to Scrabble. At ER2 we just decided to take that literally. Working with Susan Blackman, President of Art Advisory, Ltd.,  ER2 was asked to create a 7′ x 53′ mega Scrabble board that would bring a little color —and competition—to an everyday office.

“The client wanted the Scrabble board to be a collaborative piece in their open office concept,” said Blackman. “Ideas seemed to constantly change throughout the process. ER2 was able to keep up, though, and provide a quick turnaround.”

ER2’s Rachel Williams-Petit, who headed up the project, challenged our R&D team to reach outside the box for new materials and concepts.

“We sourced a magnetic material that would allow us to create actual Scrabble tiles that could be used on the digitally printed magnetic game board,” said Williams-Petit.

Once the materials and printing were taken care of, we sent our awesome installation team to New York City to create the Scrabble board to end all Scrabble boards. From idea to installation, the project took only about two weeks.

“The installers were great,” said Blackman. “They inspected and prepped the walls and got rid of any imperfections to ensure a seamless installation. Everyone that has seen the finished piece has been very intrigued.”

Now all we need is an extra large dictionary to make sure nobody is making up words!
